Crossroads Art Center is excited to announce an online call for entries for the November 2024 Exhibition. This is a juried show, with the theme "Feast".
For the theme "Feast," here are some inspirational ideas to spark your creativity.
Cultural Celebrations: Encourage artists to explore feasts from different cultures, such as Thanksgiving, Diwali, Chinese New Year, or Mediterranean feasts. They can depict traditional foods, settings, and rituals associated with these celebrations
Historical Feasts: Inspire artists to delve into history and create works based on famous feasts, such as medieval banquets, Roman feasts, or royal dinners. This could include lavish settings, extravagant dishes, and historical figures.
Feasts in Nature: Suggest artists find inspiration in the natural world, such as a feast for the senses in a blooming garden, a bountiful harvest, or animals feasting in the wild. This could emphasize the beauty and abundance of nature.
Modern Feasts: Encourage artists to think about contemporary gatherings and celebrations, such as family dinners, holiday parties, or community potlucks. They can explore themes of togetherness, joy, and the social aspects of sharing a meal.
Abstract Interpretations: Some artists might prefer a more abstract approach, focusing on the sensory experience of a feast. They can play with colors, textures, and forms that evoke the richness and variety of a feast.
Symbolic Feasts: Artists can also explore the symbolic meanings of feasts, such as abundance, gratitude, and celebration. They can use symbols like cornucopias, overflowing tables, and communal dining to convey these themes.
Personal Feasts: Encourage artists to draw from their own experiences and memories of feasts. This personal touch can add a unique and intimate perspective to their work.
Fantasy Feasts: Suggest a fantastical approach, where artists can create imaginary feasts with whimsical foods, magical settings, and otherworldly guests. This can be an opportunity for playful and imaginative artwork.
Entry fee is $15 per submission for the general public (with a limit of three submissions). For New or Renewing Gallery Members the cost will be $12 per submission. In addition, Gallery Members may receive a fourth entry for free: use Code: 4thFREE
